A visitor arriving in the village centre could be forgiven for assuming  Alresford just sprang up in the 1960's  and 1970's, this is not the case, on closer inspection and investigation a wealth of history can be uncovered in all parts of the village - here is just a brief note about some important sites and places of historical interest.

Most people are aware of the 12th Century ruined Church (St. Peters) with its even older origins but the village has important Iron Age and Roman sites as well. The paved ford across Alresford Creek is certainly of Roman construction (do not try and cross it though!).
Notable residences are Alresford Hall and The Quarters. The village public house (The Pointer) is at least 300 years old.  Several cottages and farmhouses exhibit ancient features and are "listed" buildings.
